I rarely get to go to Costco in person, but when I do, I’m always amazed at the sheer scale of everything available there. So amazed, in fact, that I get overwhelmed and tend to stick to buying my tried-and-true foods and snacks: Chicken breasts, ground beef and turkey, oat milk, seltzer, canned tomatoes, various nuts, and kettle chips.
A more recent non-food related favorite is the micellar wipes, and we always stock up on toilet paper and paper towel.
I agree with Kate V, one of my favorite TikTokers, that unless you are stocking up on a select few staples—rice, tofu, etc.—you are not necessarily saving money by shopping at Costco. However, with the Kirkland brand and the other select national brands they sell, you do know that you are getting a lot of quality items at an okay price. And in bulk!
I imagine the other perks—travel, gas—make the membership more worth it, but I do not have a car.
That said, with a two-ish person household, Chris and I don’t always go through the Costco-sized portions as quickly as we would need to. That is why I like buying things I can freeze easily (like meat) or that don’t expire right away (like chips and seltzer).
But I feel like The Purse community probably knows a few good Costco hacks. So, what do you like to buy at Costco? Do you have any tips/tricks for shopping there?
