Hello! And welcome to the second edition of our Financial Clarity Challenge!
If you missed our kickoff post at the start of the month, this is a new project that grew out of my desire to put everything I learned while becoming a certified financial planner to work. Well, most of it, anyway. There are some crazy estate planning tricks that really only apply if you’re set to inherit more than $30 million. I’m guessing that’s not the case for most of us, right?
Every two weeks, I’m writing about a different money-related task that can help you get more financial clarity. Number one was simple: Write down all your financial accounts in one place. Did you get it done?

Before we dive into task number two, just a reminder that paid subscribers can join me on Friday, October 23, at 1:30 p.m. ET for a money power hour. We’ll gather on Zoom to work independently to get some of these tasks done. You can use the 60 minutes to do research, make an annoying call, or open or close an account. We’ll briefly share what we’re working on and offer each other support and camaraderie. The Google signup is below the paywall!
The Financial Clarity Challenge is a perk for paid subscribers. My CFP education was expensive! Also, for disclosure’s sake, I am not providing financial advice in this series. The content here is purely for educational purposes.
OK, let’s get on to task number two!
It’s difficult—maybe impossible—to make any money goals if you don’t understand the status quo. So today we’re going to dig deep into our numbers.
