Next month, I’m heading to Washington D.C. for a week-long conference. I’ve been trying to get ahead of preparations by organizing my outfits and everything else I’ll need now, so I’m not rushing at the last minute.
But all this prep has me thinking: What are your conference must-haves? If I were going for just a day or two, I wouldn’t worry too much about what I’m packing. bBut five nights at a hotel and five full days in business mode has me thinking I should be a little more strategic. I’m also working the conference, not just attending, which means I’ll need to be “on” (and on my feet) from around 7 a.m. to after 5 p.m. every day.
So, what do you make sure to have on-hand for conferences or other week-long trips? Do you stock your hotel room with certain snacks, or keep your work bag packed with particular goodies? Speaking of work bags…what’s your go-to?
My other prime consideration is that I can’t pack too much, as I’m traveling by train. I’m planning to pack light layers and my travel-sized clothes steamer. As much as I’d like to exercise, I’m worried that I don’t have the luggage space (and that I won’t have the energy once I’m there). And because it’s DC, I’m also worried about my naturally frizzy hair; I’m planning to pack a compact straightener and lots of hair oil.
Let me know what’s on your conference packing list!
